About Ghazala

Ghazala: the names of both my Palestinian grandmothers, and by no coincidence, a symbol of Palestinian identity. Ghazala is the Arabic word for gazelle, such as Palestine's national animal, the Mountain Gazelle. Gazelles have historically featured in Palestinian folk songs and tales, including the encrypted songs used to communicate with political prisoners during the the Great Palestinian Revolt ('Tarweedah').

Ghazala aims to provide apparel and accessories that showcase Palestinian identity and solidarity. Most existing brands in this domain are US-based, leading to absurd shipping costs for Palestinians and allies in the land down under. With each purchase made, 10% of profits are used to support Palestinians.

Because of the relentless interference with aid delivery in Gaza, shoppers at Ghazala have the option to elect how their money will be used.

Option 1: Aid sent to Gaza, through Islamic Relief Australia. Having worked in the Occupied Palestinian Territories since 1997 and still being active on the ground today, Islamic Relief Australia is a trusted agency for donating food and medical supplies.

Option 2: Funds used to support Palestinians settling in Australia, through Palestine Australia Relief and Action (PARA). PARA facilitate the financial aid, resources, and advice needed for the resettlement of Palestinian refugees in Australia.

So, with the grace, agility and resilience of a ghazala, may we all continue to do our part for a free Palestine. ✊
